IPL 2025: RCB star batter ruled out for the remaining season; what is next for them

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have lost a big blow as star batter Devdutt Padikkal has been ruled out of the rest of the Indian Premier League 2025 after suffering an injury.
Padikkal has been in excellent touch for RCB and played vital knocks in the team’s spirited campaign so far in the tournament. Unfortunately, he will be out for the rest of the tournament after suffering a hamstring injury.
Who Will Replace Padikkal in RCB
The franchise, which is second in the points table only to Gujarat Titans on net run rate, has acted quickly to secure Mayank Agarwal in place for the remainder of the season.
Mayank was unsold in the IPL 2025 super auction for his basic price of Rs 1 crore. The IPL governing board verified Mayank’s announcement of joining RCB.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have signed Mayank Agarwal as an injury replacement for Devdutt Padikkal for the remainder of TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025,” IPL stated in a media advisory.
Padikkal’s Performance For RCB in IPL 2025
Padikkal, with ordinary returns in the IPL in the last couple of seasons, was a discovery for RCB this year, playing at No. 3, where he scored two half-centuries. He scored 247 runs for the season in 10 matches at a strike rate of 150.61, handily his best in an IPL season.
Mayank Agarwal IPL History
The replacement, , has extensive IPL experience, having played 127 matches and scored one century and 13 fifties. RCB was Agarwal’s debut IPL franchise, and he has subsequently played for several more clubs. His most recent spell with Sunrisers Hyderabad witnessed him score only 64 runs in four games in the IPL 2024.
Will Mayank Agarwal be able to fulfill the role of Padikkal in the Bengaluru team? Only time can say this.
