The things are highly likely to shake up big in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Mega Auction likely to be held later this year. Although there is still uncertainty over the number of players a team can ahead of the Mega Auction, the social media is always abuzz with the auction insight in near future.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season ended with the Shreyas Iyer led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) showing their dominance to win their 3rd ever IPL title. KKR dominated the league phase with 20 points while 2 of their matches was washed out due to rain. They then dominated the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 1 and the Final to lift the Trophy in Chennai.

Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) returned to the playoffs this year, but once again had to leave empty hand as the Faf du Plessis led side lost in the Eliminator against the Rajasthan Royals. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is reportedly eagerly waiting for the Mega Auction as they look to rebuild the team.

As per the rumour mill, RCB is looking to bring a one of their own, the Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul back into the team. The Karnataka born India international wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul began his IPL journey with his home team Royal Challengers Bengaluru. But he never really made himself a star there until his brilliant stint with the Punjab Kings from 2018 till 2021 and then joined the new outfit Lucknow Super Giants. But according to reports, Lucknow is looking to part ways with Rahul and RCB is looking to pounce on that.

But, before the Mega Auction planning begins, RCB will have to finalize a number of players that the team will be looking to keep hold of. In this article, we take a look at the list of players who will be probably retained by RCB ahead of IPL 2025.

Virat Kohli to remain with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)

Star Indian batter Virat Kohli is very much likely to be the top retention for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Virat Kohli most recently announced his decision to retire from T20 International and will solely focus on RCB from now onwards in the shortest format of the game. Kohli was in great form in the IPL 2024 as he scored 741 runs in 15 matches with a strike rate of 154.70.

Mohammed Siraj

India international pacer Mohammed Siraj might be another player they would be looking to keep hold of. With the market lacking in the number of experienced pacers who can take wickets in regular intervals, who bowls good line and length, RCB would not want to risk it by releasing Siraj and then see him go for big bucks in the auction. Siraj managed 15 wickets in 14 matches in IPL 2024, keeping in mind he played 7 matches at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is considered a graveyard for the bowlers.

Rajat Patidar

31-years-old right-hand batter Rajat Patidar might be another player Royal Challengers Bengaluru would be keeping hold of. impressed the RCB faithful with his clean striking of the ball in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). Patidar scored 395 runs with a strike rate of 177.13 in the IPL 2024. Patidar would be a valuable asset that the RCB franchise would not want to let go easily.

Will Jacks

England’s hard-hitting and dashing batter Will Jacks might be an out of the box name for many of the RCB fans. But for those who witnessed the carnage he brought about on 28th April during RCB vs Gujarat Titans, any RCB fans would be buzzing to keep hold of the Englishman. Still 25, Will Jacks didn’t get the opportunity to open the inning in the IPL 2024 despite it being his preferred position to bat as captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli held about that position. But with Faf now 40, RCB might want to keep hold of Will Jacks who has a long future to be a destructive batter, who can win the matches on his own.
