IPL Retention 2025: KKR Best Retention List if they don’t retain Shreyas Iyer

The rumour mill is hotting-up with reports that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) IPL 2024 winning captain Shreyas Iyer is set to be available in the mega auction. This could have a big effect in KKR’s IPL 2025 Retention list.

Bollywood superstar duo Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla’s team was the team to beat in the IPL 2024 season, where they displayed a rampaging performance to win the title one-sided in the final.

Among many heroes in the team, team’s captain Shreyas Iyer was an integral season of the team’s success. However, ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, reports suggests that Iyer is pondering over going into the auction to test his value. With Iyer likely to depart, we take a look at what could be KKR Retention list ahead of Mega Auction.

KKR Probable IPL Retention 2025 List

Andre Russell

West Indies’ hard-hitting all-rounder Andre Russell has not only become a legend for the Kolkata Knight Riders, but is also a face of the Knight Riders Group, representing various other Knight Riders team around the world.

The Caribbean all-rounder expected to get the first retention and could be getting between 15-18 Crore. Andre Russell played huge role in the team’s success in 2024, taking 19 wickets and scored 222 runs with a strike rate of 185.00.

Rinku Singh

Fan favourite Rinku Singh is likely to get the 2nd retention spot for the Kolkata Knight Riders. The Uttar Pradesh cricketer overcame a lot of obstacles and became a hero for KKR and the Indian team. Rinku Singh will not only contribute with his bat, but his brand value is just skyrocketing, which could further KKR’s brand value.

Rinku is also likely to get around 15-16 crore value as his retention price. Last season was not the best for Rinku as he had very opportunities while the team was doing so well.

Sunil Narine

There is mutual feelings between the KKR fans and legend Sunil Narine, who is one of the prized asset of the franchise. Sunil Narine found his groove once again when he did not only contribute with the ball, but also with the bat, scoring 488 runs with a strike rate of 180.74 and took 17 wickets.

Sunil Narine has over the years remained with KKR for any amount the team wanted and never really bargained. This year, Narine is likely to get the third retention spot and could also earn around 15-16 crore as KKR is reportedly looking to divide the salary equally.

Varun Chakravarthy

Sunil Narine’s partner in business for KKR in IPL 2024 was Varun Chakravarthy. Varun Chakravarthy has been probably the best Indian spin bowler in the IPL in the recent couple of years and he took it up by a notch in IPL 2024.

Chakravarthy bagged 21 wickets in 2024 season and could have won the Purple Cap had KKR’s last few matches not get washed out due to rain. Varun is likely to be KKR’s 4th retention and could earn around 14-15 crore.

Harshit Rana

Kolkata Knight Riders got lucky as the team’s right-arm pacer Harshit Rana remained uncapped despite the pacer getting picked in the Indian team squad for Bangladesh series. This gives KKR a great opportunity to retain Harshit for as less as 4 crore as an uncapped player.

Harshit also played a mega role in the team’s Trophy lift in 2024. Harshit was initially signed as a injury replacement in 2022 and delivered his best performance for the team in 2024, taking 19 wickets in 11 matches. Despite the team able to retain Rana for just 4 crore, KKR is expected to offer Harshit 6-7 crore salary.

Ramandeep Singh

‘Rags to Riches’ became true for Ramandeep Singh in IPL 2024. Mumbai Indians had the Punjabi all-rounder in their team but was released ahead of IPL 2024 Auction and KKR swooped in. The all-rounder also contributed significantly with his cameos and most importantly fielding efforts.

Who else can forget running backwards to grab a blinder against Lucknow Super Giants, that eventually gave him the catch of the season award. Raman’s stocks has been rising ever since and he made it to the Indian team squad for the Emerging Asia Cup. Although Ramandeep was expected to be released, change in scenario could mean KKR look in the IPL retention 2025 list for as less as 4 crore as an uncapped player.
