“IPL Team Owners Come From Business Background” – KL Rahul Finally Speaks On Heated Altercation With LSG Owner

During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, tensions were high between KL Rahul, captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and team owner Sanjeev Goenka. Having led Lucknow Super Giants since their debut in IPL 2022, Rahul has been at the helm for three seasons. However, after a fallout with Goenka during IPL 2024, rumors have persisted that LSG might release Rahul before the next season.
Despite some friendly photos of the two emerging post-IPL, it appears that their relationship may still be strained. Recently, in a podcast, Rahul subtly addressed the situation, delivering a strong message aimed at Goenka without directly naming him.
In a conversation on Nikhil Kamath’s podcast, Rahul remarked, “IPL team owners come from a business background and do thorough research when selecting players, but that doesn’t guarantee wins in every match. You can choose the best player based on data, but that player might still have a bad season. Every player faces tough times in their career.”
Amidst ongoing speculations, some reports suggest that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are in talks with KL Rahul and may pursue him during the IPL 2025 mega auction. As of IPL 2024, KL Rahul is the highest-paid Indian player in the league, earning ₹17 crore per season. Rohit Sharma follows closely, earning ₹16 crore per season as a player for Mumbai Indians.
