CSK’s Pre-IPL 2025 Preparations Begin Away from Chepauk

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have commenced their preparation for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season but are noticeably absent from their traditional home ground, the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This year, CSK’s initial training is taking place at the CSK High-Performance Centre situated in Navalur, Tamil Nadu.
The decision to not practice at Chepauk comes as a result of directives from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The BCCI has instructed that all IPL venues be kept in optimum condition for the upcoming season, restricting their use by franchises before the tournament officially begins. This mandate aims to ensure that the stadiums are preserved in pristine condition for the matches.
CSK’s preparation includes a 10-day training camp, which sees participation from prominent players like MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and R Ashwin. R Ashwin’s presence is especially noteworthy as he has returned to CSK, acquired for a sum of Rs 9.75 crore during the mega auction.
Speculation is rife regarding MS Dhoni, with many anticipating that the 2025 season might be his last. His leadership and experience remain pivotal to CSK’s strategy and team dynamics. Dhoni’s presence has undoubtedly been a major influence on the franchise’s success over the years, making his potential retirement a significant topic of discussion.
Further adding to the anticipation, CSK is set to face their arch-rivals, Mumbai Indians, in their opening match of the IPL 2025 season. This highly awaited match is scheduled to take place on March 23 at their home ground, the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium.
In summary, while CSK is not training at their home ground due to BCCI’s directives, their preparation at the High-Performance Centre is well underway, ensuring they are ready to commence the season on a strong note.
