The Ireland women’s cricket team achieved a significant milestone by securing a 3-0 T20 International series victory against Bangladesh in Sylhet. This series win marks a historic first for Ireland, being their first series victory on Bangladeshi soil and their first whitewash against the Asian nation in T20I cricket.

Ireland’s success is a continuation of their impressive form in T20Is since August 2023. During this period, the team remained unbeaten in series, recording wins against teams like the Netherlands, Zimbabwe, and Thailand while drawing series with cricketing heavyweights like Sri Lanka, England, and Scotland.

The series against Bangladesh saw notable performances from several Irish players. Skipper Gaby Lewis showcased her batting prowess, delivering a swift 60 runs in the opening T20I. In addition, Leah Paul achieved a career-high with an unbeaten 79 runs, further reinforcing the team’s strong batting lineup.

Orla Prendergast emerged as a standout performer throughout the series, playing a pivotal role in Ireland’s success. Prendergast claimed a total of 10 wickets and added 54 runs to her name, earning her the Player of the Series accolade. Her career-best figures of 4/22 in the third T20I were instrumental in securing Ireland’s clean sweep over Bangladesh.
