Is Ben Stokes Joining Mumbai Indians for IPL 2025?

England cricket team captain Ben Stokes has recently been spotted alongside the Mumbai Indians team officially upon his arrival in India. Following that, there is huge speculation going on social media that Stokes is set to join Mumbai Indians.

As per reports and a viral video doing rounds on social media, Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians personnel picked-up Stokes from the airport.

So now the question is, Ben Stokes set to join Mumbai Indians for IPL 2025? Well, not really, Ben Stokes cannot play in the IPL 2025 as the England Test skipper didn’t register his name for the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

Also according to new rules and guidelines set by the BCCI, as Ben Stokes didn’t register for the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, he cannot register for the mini auctions either, so Stokes won’t be featuring in the IPL until unless the 2028 edition.

So why is Ben Stokes is in India? It has been confirmed that Stokes is in India to fulfill his commitments with Red Bull. The England red ball captain is in India for an interview shooting, joining India international KL Rahul, who is Red Bull Brand Ambassador in India. A video has also gone viral of the two having a discussion where Stokes even wished Rahul well for the remainder of the season.

Now the most important question is, why the Mumbai Indians officials picked him up. Many have claimed that Stokes met with MI team owner Akash Ambani. Ben Stokes was set to be a part of the Mumbai Indians owned MI Cape Town in the SA20 League earlier this year.

However he couldn’t play as he suffered a left hamstring injury in December, just prior to the SA20 League 2025 season.
