Junaid Khan Accuses Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Age Fraud

India Under-19 cricket player Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been thrust into the spotlight following allegations of age fraud by former Pakistan pacer Junaid Khan. These allegations have come despite Suryavanshi’s impressive performances on the cricket field, notably during the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup 2024.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, at just 13 years old, has established himself as a prominent young talent. The young opener shined at the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup 2024, where India emerged as runners-up. Suryavanshi made a significant impact by scoring consecutive fifties against the United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka Under-19 teams. He scored 76 runs against UAE and followed it up with 67 runs in the semifinal match against Sri Lanka. However, in the final match against Bangladesh, he managed only 9 runs.
Despite his stellar performances, questions surrounding Suryavanshi’s age have re-emerged. Junaid Khan publicly accused Suryavanshi of being older than his stated age. In response to this allegation, Vaibhav’s father, Sanjiv Suryavanshi, strongly refuted the claims. He emphasized that his son’s age was verified through the BCCI’s bone test, a standard procedure for determining the age of young cricketers.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s cricketing journey has been remarkable. He is noted as the youngest player ever to participate in the Ranji Trophy, a prestigious domestic cricket championship in India. His potential was recognized by IPL franchises, where the Rajasthan Royals secured his services for Rs 1.1 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction. Delhi Capitals also showed keen interest, bidding up to Rs 1 crore for the young talent.
The allegations concerning Suryavanshi’s age have stirred a debate in cricketing circles, yet his on-field achievements continue to speak volumes about his abilities. As of now, the focus remains on the investigations to clarify any doubts about his age, while the cricketing world watches how this young star’s career unfolds.
