Kayla Reyneke has been appointed as the captain of the South African team for the 2025 U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. The tournament is set to commence on January 18, 2025, in Malaysia. South Africa will compete in Group C alongside Samoa, New Zealand, and Nigeria.

Seven players from the 2023 edition have been reselected for the 2025 squad, including Kayla Reyneke, Jemma Botha, Mona-Lisa Legodi, Simone Lourens, Karabo Meso, Seshnie Naidu, and Nthabiseng Nini. They are joined by Diara Ramlakan, who was previously a non-travelling reserve in 2023, but is now part of the main squad.

The squad also features players Seshnie Naidu and Karabo Meso, who have both earned caps for the South Africa senior women’s team. The selection indicates a blend of experience and new talent aimed at performing well in the upcoming world cup.

Preparation has been a key focus for the team under head coach Dinesha Devnarain, with series played against Ireland and participation in a tri-series in India. Additional warm-up matches scheduled include games against Ireland on January 13 and India on January 15, along with three practice T20 matches against the USA in January.

South Africa’s campaign in the World Cup will kick off with their first match against New Zealand on January 18. AJ Rudman, Convenor of Selectors, has expressed confidence in the squad’s capabilities, emphasizing the effort in selection and preparation.

The team, comprising 15 players along with non-travelling reserves, reflects strategic planning focused on both present success and future development of South African women’s cricket.
