Key Talking Points Ahead of India vs Bangladesh T20 World Cup 2024 Warm-Up Match

It is probably the first time in a long while that the Indian cricket team goes into an ICC World Cup event with not much expectations among the Indian cricket fans back in India. There have been many questions raised over the selection of the team.
Team India led by captain Rohit Sharma, will commence its ICC T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, being held in West Indies and the USA, on June 5 against Ireland. That will be followed by the big match against Pakistan on June 9. Next will be USA and Canada on 12 and 15 June.
But before all that, the Men in Blue will be taking on Bangladesh in their only warm-up match before the main campaign begins. Before the match, let’s take a look at key talking points Team India will be looking to find answers for in the match.
Who will Open the Inning for Team India?
Team India has gone with only Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal as the recognised opening batters. However, many have raised questions over who should open the inning for India. While Rohit Sharma and Jaiswal seem the most likely, many have suggested that Virat Kohli and Rohit should open the inning while some are in favour of Virat Kohli and Jaiswal opening inning with Rohit Sharma in the middle-order. What will be combination? We might get a hint during the India vs Bangladesh warm-up match.
Middle-Order Dilemma
Team India’s middle order is also a question mark. Will Virat Kohli play in the middle-order or opening, will Rohit Sharma be playing in the middle-order. Suryakumar Yadav is the only player who is confirmed in the middle order, but even his batting order is undecided, will he be at number 3 or 4. Hardik Pandya, who think of himself as a middle-order batter, will he be in middle-order, or be forced to play the role he was picked into the Indian team for, the role of a finisher.
Who will be the Wicketkeeper Batter?
Team India has two wicketkeeper batters in the squad, Rishabh Pant, who made an outstanding comeback after a near-fatal injury and Sanju Samson has been included in the team on the back of his brilliant performance in the IPL 2024. So the question is, who will get the first preference, Rishabh Pant or Sanju Samson, we might find out tonight.
Who is the Finisher?
Every Indian cricket team fans have one question in mind, who is the finisher in this squad. There are 3 candidates, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja. Shivam Dube had an outstanding season in the IPL, but that is during the middle-overs, i.e. 7-15 overs. Hardik Pandya considers himself as a middle-order batter since the last few years, although he was selected into the team as a finisher. And for Ravindra Jadeja, fans don’t have any confidence in him, to sum it up.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Bowling Partner
Team India have included 3 pacers into the squad, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh with Hardik Pandya as the 4th choice. Mohammed Siraj is yet to prove himself in the shortest format with just 10 matches and 12 wickets. Arshdeep Singh started really well but has seen his performance down in the recent matches and have been conceding run with over 9 per over. So who will be partnering Bumrah, massive question we might find an answer during the warm-up match.
