KKR’s former IPL-winning captain is playing brilliantly in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-2025. He scored two centuries in four matches in the trophy.

We are talking about the former KKR captain and current Mumbai team captain, Shreyas Iyer. He is currently in outstanding form and scoring big runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. A few days ago, he smashed a brilliant hundred against Karnataka.

Today, in a match against Puducherry, Iyer scored a much-needed hundred again. Today’s hundred is more special. When Iyer came to bat, Mumbai’s batters were struggling against Puducherry’s bowlers. They were three down on just 36 in 8 overs.

The Mumbai skipper took charge and played with a sense of responsibility. Iyer made a good partnership of 86 runs with Atharva Ankolekar. After Ankolekar, no other Mumbai batter played well, including Suryakumar Yadav, who got out for a golden duck.

Puducherry bowlers showed an excellent performance against Mumbai. They took nine wickets for just 225 runs. Then Iyer made a good partnership of 65 runs for the last wicket with Harsh Tanna.

Mumbai ended their innings with a good total of 290 runs in 50 overs. Shreyas scored a brilliant 137 runs off 133 balls with the help of 16 fours and four sixes.

Likely to Lead PBKS in IPL 2025

There are very high chances that Shreyas Iyer will lead the Punjab Kings in IPL 2025. Iyer’s captaincy record is outstanding, as he won the title with KKR in 2024.

Other side, the Punjab Kings haven’t had an excellent captain in all the years who leads them well and wins the title for them. So, they bought Shreyas Iyer with the second-highest bid in IPL history of 26.75 CR.
