Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are preparing to defend their title in the upcoming IPL 2025 season. The team faces a significant challenge as they strive to maintain their champion status. Ajinkya Rahane takes on the role of captain, replacing Shreyas Iyer, and aims to lead KKR to another victorious campaign.

KKR will kick off their IPL 2025 journey by facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the opening match on 22 March 2025. This marks the beginning of a series of matches against other formidable teams including Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad, stretching from March to May.

In terms of team dynamics, KKR has seen a shift with the appointment of Dwayne Bravo as their new mentor, a role previously held by Gautam Gambhir. Bravo’s experience will be crucial as the team integrates new talents into their lineup.

The new roster for 2025 includes exciting players like Quinton de Kock, Anrich Nortje, Mayank Markande, and Rovman Powell. Meanwhile, KKR has bid farewell to key players Mitchell Starc and Phil Salt, who have joined Delhi Capitals and RCB, respectively.

KKR made headlines with the re-signing of Venkatesh Iyer for a hefty Rs 23.75 crore, marking their most significant investment in the IPL 2025 auction. The team’s squad also boasts renowned players such as Rinku Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Moeen Ali, among others.

In the previous IPL 2024 season, KKR clinched their third title by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. Sunil Narine emerged as the top run-scorer for the team with 488 runs, while Varun Chakravarthy led the bowling attack with 21 wickets.

KKR’s preparation and strategic changes signal their intent to remain a dominant force in IPL 2025. The franchise is poised to tackle the competition head-on and potentially replicate their success from the previous season.
