Kohli Aims to Surpass Babar Azam’s T20 Record in IPL 2025

Star cricketer Virat Kohli is on the verge of breaking Babar Azam’s record in T20 cricket as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season approaches. Kohli, known for his remarkable batting prowess, has scored nine centuries in T20 cricket, eight of which came in the IPL. The other was achieved against Afghanistan in 2022.
Currently, Kohli ranks third in terms of most centuries scored in T20 cricket. He is trailing Babar Azam, who has 11 centuries to his name. Chris Gayle tops the list with an impressive 22 centuries in 45 innings, showcasing his commanding presence in T20 cricket.
Kohli’s journey to nine centuries in T20 cricket spans 382 innings, while Babar Azam managed his record in 299 innings. Kohli stands a chance to surpass Babar Azam’s record in the IPL 2025, provided he maintains his form and consistency. Babar, on the other hand, has opportunities to extend his lead during the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In 2016, Kohli had an exceptional IPL season, where he hit four centuries and amassed 973 runs, a season record that remains unmatched. This achievement reflects his capacity to deliver match-winning performances and highlights the potential for breaking records in future seasons.
The upcoming IPL 2025 season is set to kick off on March 22, with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) facing Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening game. Following the release of Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar has been named the new captain of RCB. The team has been training in Bengaluru before moving to Kolkata for further preparations.
As the IPL 2025 season approaches, all eyes will be on Virat Kohli to see if he can surpass Babar Azam and establish his supremacy in T20 cricket once again.
