Former Indian cricketer, Kris Srikkanth, has come up with a bold statement, asking the former ace Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin to be dropped by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of their upcoming game against Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2025.

Kris Srikkanth who was part of the 1983 World Cup winning squad wasn’t happy with Ravichandran Ashwin’s performance in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League.

After an embarrassing defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders at their home venue, fans left disappointed as they wanted to witness a pure domination under the leadership of MS Dhoni.

However, Chennai Super Kings posted a woeful total of 103 runs where the former Indian spinner came in to bat at No.6 for his team. He managed to get only one run from seven balls before throwing his wicket into the hands of Harshit Rana.

In addition to that, Ravichandran Ashwin hasn’t been much effective with the ball for his home team, finishing with figures of 0/30 in three overs at an economy rate of 10.

I want CSK to remove Ashwin from the XI: Kris Srikkanth

The former Indian opener Kris Srikkanth has slammed the 38-year-old cricketer for his poor show with the ball in this season. “Ashwin has been bowling terribly. If he keeps bowling like this, I’m not even sure if he’s going into the XI,” Kris Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel.

I want CSK to remove Ashwin from the XI. I have been supporting Ashwin till now but not after this performance, I think CSK should be bold and drop him,” he added.

Ahead of their upcoming clash against Lucknow Super Giants, Kris Srikkanth said, “LSG (Lucknow Super Giants) their next opponents, have quite a few left-handers. It remains to be seen whether CSK will make a bold call and leave him out.

But now I want him dropped. Let him sit out for a couple of games only then he will understand the value of his place. Only then he will comeback stronger,” Srikkanth stated.

With MS Dhoni once again leading Chennai Super Kings, the five-time champions team are all set to face Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday.
