New Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer was in full-flow in his debut match for the side as he was the side’s best batter against the Gujarat Titans. Shreyas came on to bat at number 3 in the 4 over of the inning and remained unbeaten after scoring 97 runs.

Youngster Priyansh Arya impressed for the Punjab Kings while making his IPL debut in this match vs GT. Arya scored 47 runs off 23 balls, but the highlight of the inning was the brilliant knock by the Kings captain Shreyas Iyer.

Iyer came to bat at number 3 after Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed cheaply. Shreyas made his intentions clear with a boundary of the first ball. Throughout the inning, Shreyas Iyer managed his inning really well.

Despite Punjab Kings losing wickets on regular intervals, Shreyas Iyer held his end very well, where he ensured that the flow of run continue with regular boundaries and single, doubles.

At one stage, Shreyas was looking well set reach his fifty, but then came Shashank Singh at number 7 and he smashed 44 runs off 16 balls that included 6 fours and 2 sixes. In the last over, Iyer needed 3 runs to complete his century, however, Shashank played the entire over and scored 22 runs.

Following this, there has been different reactions on social media about Iyer failing to reach his century. Many even compared him to Virat Kohli.
