The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season resumes today with the big match between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The excitement is at its peak again as the IPL 2025 season resumes today after the league was suspended for a week on May 9 as a result of Pakistan’s attack on India.

The IPL 2025 season has also been extended by a week, with the final match now scheduled to take place on June 3. The league resumes today with the match between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

However, there is a serious worry regarding the match today as the game could be washed out without a ball bowled today looking at the last minute weather forecast for in Bengaluru.

The RCB vs KKR match is set to start from 7:30 P.M. Indian Standard Time (IST). However, according to the weather forecast for Saturday in Bengaluru, it is likely to rain throughout the day.

It has been raining in Bengaluru for the last few days, with the monsoon season almost at the gate. According to the weather forecast, the morning is not likely to see any rain.

However, after 12 P.M., it is likely to start raining with a probability of precipitation rising every single hour. There is 20% chance of rain around 1 P.M which then rises to 40% from 3 P.M onwards.

Around the match hours, the probability of precipitation is 50% from 7 P.M. to midnight, which then rises to 70% beyond 12 A.M. Temperature is also going to be on the cooler side with temperatures between 24-23°C expected during the match.

Must note that, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has a world-class drainage system. If there is no rain for atleast 2-3 hours, we can certainly expect some cricketing action. However, looking at it, it is almost unlikely we will have any result today.

RCB on the brink of IPL 2025 playoffs qualification

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) can officially qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs with a win tonight against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They currently have 16 points and sit in 2nd place in the points table.

A win would take their tally to 18 points, which would be enough for a top 4 finish. However, they will be aiming for a top 2 finish. In case the match gets abandoned, RCB and KKR will both get 1 point each. That won’t officially cement their play in the top 4 for RCB. On the other hand, that will end KKR’s hopes of an IPL 2025 playoffs berth and end the season for the defending champions.
