Mandhana Leads India to Record-Breaking ODI Win Over Ireland

The Indian women’s cricket team, led by captain Smriti Mandhana, achieved a historic 304-run victory against Ireland, marking their largest win in One Day Internationals (ODIs). This triumph also secured a 3-0 series sweep for India.
Mandhana’s performance was outstanding, as she scored a remarkable 135 runs off just 80 balls, which included setting a record for the fastest women’s ODI century by an Indian, achieved in 70 balls. Her powerful innings was complemented by her opening partner, Pratika Rawal, who scored an impressive 154 runs. Together, they contributed to India setting a daunting target of 436 runs.
Their formidable total proved insurmountable for Ireland, as they were bowled out for 131 runs in 31.4 overs. India’s dominating performance was not only a testament to their batting strength but also highlighted their bowling prowess. Despite the victory, Mandhana highlighted the necessity for further improvements, especially in fielding and running between wickets, as the team prepares for the upcoming World Cup.
Pratika Rawal, apart from her remarkable innings in the third ODI, has shown consistent form throughout the series, amassing a total of 444 runs across six ODIs with an average of 74. Her exceptional performance earned her the ‘Player of the Match’ accolade.
India’s head coach, Amol Muzumdar, has expressed confidence in the team’s batting unit. However, he acknowledged the need for another fast bowler to strengthen their lineup for future challenges. As the team looks ahead to the World Cup, focusing on these areas will be crucial for their continued success on the international stage.
