Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) captain, MS Dhoni, is set to reach a significant milestone in his illustrious cricket career. On April 25, Dhoni will play his 400th T20 match in a game against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M A Chidambaram Stadium. With this, Dhoni will become the fourth Indian cricketer to achieve the remarkable feat of 400 T20 games.

Dhoni’s journey in T20 cricket has been impressive, complemented by his international and IPL performances. In T20 Internationals, he has played 98 matches, accumulating 1,617 runs at a strike rate of 126.13. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), he has been a stalwart for CSK, appearing in 272 games and scoring 5,377 runs with a strike rate of 137.87. Additionally, Dhoni has participated in 24 T20 matches for CSK during the Champions League, where he has scored 449 runs.

Joining an exclusive group, Dhoni follows in the footsteps of other prolific Indian cricketers who have reached this milestone. Rohit Sharma leads this group with 456 T20 matches, followed by Dinesh Karthik at 412 games, and Virat Kohli with 407 games.

Currently, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad both hold two victories from eight matches in the ongoing IPL season. CSK is placed in 10th position due to an inferior Net Run Rate, whereas Sunrisers have shown potential, harking back to their performance in IPL 2024 where they reached the finals.

With Daniel Vettori as the head coach, Sunrisers Hyderabad is optimistic about improving their team’s performance. On the other hand, CSK shows signs of improvement in their batting lineup thanks to players such as Shivam Dube and SK Rasheed contributing positively.

As MS Dhoni gears up for this landmark match, cricket fans globally will be keenly watching to see how CSK and Dhoni fare in this important game of the IPL season.
