Mumbai Indians Announce Triple Change for IPL 2025 Season

The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians have announced triple change in their team for the IPL 2025 playoffs, if they qualify. Ryan Rickelton, Corbin Bosch and Will Jacks won’t be a part of the side for the playoffs.
The one week-long delay in the IPL 2025 has affected several teams. Mumbai Indians is one of the teams who have been severely hit because of this with some key players set to be unavailable for the playoffs, for which they are the most likely side to qualify.
South African duo of Ryan Rickelton, Corbin Bosch will be joining the national team for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final while Will Jacks will be involved for England vs West Indies.
The side will hugely miss Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks. Rickelton has scored 336 runs 12 matches while Will Jacks has scored 195 runs and taken 5 wickets.
Mumbai Indians sign Jonny Bairstow, Charith Asalanka and Richard Gleeson as temporary replenishment
The trio will be replaced by Jonny Bairstow, Charith Asalanka and Richard Gleeson. Explosive wicketkeeper batter and opener Jonny Bairstow will replace his countryman Will Jacks for a salary of 5.25 crore.
Sri Lankan batter Charith Asalanka will take Corbin Bosch’s place in the team for a salary of 75 Lakh while English pacer Richard Gleeson will replace Ryan Rickelton for salary of 1 crore. It must be noted that Mumbai won’t be able to retain any of them as per the rules stated by the BCCI.
Jonny Bairstow is currently playing in the English County Championship. Before that, he played in the SA20 League for the Joburg Super Kings where he scored 232 runs in 8 innings with a strike rate of 134.10.
Charith Asalanka played for the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the UAE’s ILT20 League, in which he played 3 matches and scored 111 with a strike rate of 152.05. Richard Gleeson on the other hand impressed for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape taking 14 wickets in 13 matches in the SA20 2025.
Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, currently sits at 4th place with the Delhi Capitals their direct rivals for the playoffs spot. Mumbai has 14 points from 12 games and they face the Capitals in their next match as the Hardik Pandya-led side will be looking to book their place in the top 4.
