Mumbai Indians Rope in Mujeeb ur Rahman as Replacement for Injured Allah Ghazanfar

The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians have today announced the arrival of Afghanistan spin bowler Mujeeb ur Rahman replacing his fellow countryman Allah Ghazanfar ahead of the IPL 2025 season.
Mumbai Indians roped in Allah Ghazanfar during the IPL 2025 Mega Auction for a whopping 4.60 Crore INR after a intense bidding war with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) his former employee.
Allah Ghazanfar replaced Mujeeb at KKR in IPL 2024
Interestingly, Allah Ghazanfar replaced Mujeeb ur Rahman in Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2024 season and won the Trophy with the franchise. However, he wasn’t retained as Mega Auction rules allowed only 4 retentions.
But despite not featuring in a single match, KKR were aware of his talent and went all-out for the youngster until financial constraints didn’t allow them to continue the bidding war with Mumbai Indians.
It has full circle as now Mujeeb ur Rahman will replace Allah Ghazanfar in Mumbai Indians team ahead of IPL 2025 season. Ghazanfar suffered an injury during Afghanistan’s series against Zimbabwe and he is likely to be unavailable for the next 3-4 months.
Mumbai Indians to play CSK in their first IPL 2025 match

Mumbai retained Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma ahead of IPL 2025 Mega Auction. They splashed 12.50 Crore INR in the Mega Auction to bring back their former pace bowler Trent Boult. They also signed former CSK man Deepak Chahar for 9.25 Crore INR.
The franchise used RTM card on explosive batter Naman Dhir and bagged the services of Will Jacks from Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) who surprisingly let him go despite having the RCB card available and was one of the best batter of the side last season.
