Mumbai Indians have officially appointed former Australian cricketer Nicole Bolton as an assistant coach for their team ahead of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season. The league’s third edition is set to begin on February 14, 2025, marking another exciting chapter for women’s cricket.

Nicole Bolton, a seasoned ex-opener for Australia’s women’s cricket team, brings a wealth of experience to the Mumbai Indians. Her cricket career includes 50 One Day Internationals (ODIs), three Tests, and two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for Australia. She retired from all cricket formats in November 2022 after competing in the Women’s Big Bash League final with the Sydney Sixers.

In addition to her playing credentials, Bolton has significant coaching experience. She previously held assistant coaching roles with the Adelaide Strikers and South Australia’s women’s team. Her new role with the Mumbai Indians promises to enhance the team’s strategy and performance.

The Mumbai Indians are aiming for a strong comeback after a promising inaugural WPL season in 2023, where they emerged as champions, followed by a playoff exit in the 2024 season against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the eliminator round.

In preparation for the 2025 season, Mumbai Indians made strategic additions to their squad during the WPL auction by signing South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk and promising U19 player G Kamalini. These signings reflect the team’s commitment to building a competitive side with a mix of experienced international players and exciting young talent.

The 2025 WPL season will commence with an opening match between RCB and Gujarat Giants. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians will kick off their campaign on February 15, 2025, against Delhi Capitals in Vadodara, hoping to start their season with a victory.

With Nicole Bolton joining a robust coaching staff, the Mumbai Indians are poised to be strong contenders in the upcoming season. Her appointment is seen as a significant boost, potentially enhancing the team’s dynamics and providing invaluable insights from her extensive cricket career.
