Mustafizur Rahman Snubs Delhi Capitals, Joins Bangladesh Team Instead

Just a day after he was named as replacement signing by the Delhi Capitals, Bangladeshi left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman has snubbed the Capitals and instead joined the Bangladesh team for 2 match T20I series vs UAE.
On May 14, Delhi Capitals announced the signing of Mustafizur Rahman as replacement for Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk, who decided not to take part in the 2nd half of the IPL 2025 season.
Amid all the mid-season replacements this season, Mustafizur became the costliest replacement, having agreed to join the Capitals for a 6 Crore salary.
However, hours after announced by the Delhi Capitals, Mustafizur Rahman actually traveled to Sharjah to join the Bangladesh team, which is set to play a 2-match T20I series vs the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on May 17 and May 19.
According to reports, there is currently uncertainty about the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). According to various reports, BCB has been monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan. Sources within the BCB believe that if they issue NOC to Mustafizur to join Delhi Capitals, then they will have to give NOC to Rishad Hossain and Nahid Rana to play in the PSL and both the players are also part of the Bangladesh squad.
Some reports also state that even if Mustafizur Rahman is given NOC, he will join the Delhi Capitals team only after the UAE T20I series ends. Which means, Mustafizur will only be available for DC from their match against the Mumbai Indians on May 21.
Delhi Capitals bowling woes in the IPL 2025
Despite having some good quality bowlers in their line-up, the Delhi Capitals bowlers have not been able to deliver performance upto the expectation.
Meanwhile, star pace bowler Mitchell Starc is unlikely to join the side for the remaining matches after being part of what transpired in Dharamsala on 8th May. The Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match had to be called off after 10 overs due to Pakistan’s drone attack on nearby cities.
This will significantly hamper the Delhi Capitals. Starc is the side’s leading wicket-taker with 14 wickets while Kuldeep Yadav has 12 wickets to his name. Meanwhile, the likes of Mukesh Kumar, Axar Patel and Mohit Sharma have let-down.
