Netherlands cricket team’s pacer Paul van Meekeren responded to Pakistani fans who have been trolling him by calling him Haris Rauf’s son. This taunt has been circulating since the recent ICC ODI World Cup 2023, where van Meekeren had a heated exchange with Rauf before being dismissed by the Pakistani pacer.

Paul Van Meekeren’s Reaction to Pakistani Trollers Calling Him “Son of Haris Rauf”

In a measured and humorous response, van Meekeren addressed a fan’s comment by clarifying his real father’s identity, suggesting that if there were any further confusion, fans could reach out with their questions.

“Since the last 50 over World Cup, I’ve had many people say this… I just wanna clarify that I’m not Haris Raif’s son, my dad is, funnily enough, also called Paul (Adriaan) van Meekeren!! I hope this solves any confusion… if not please reach out with your questions,” Paul van Meekeren responded to a Pakistani fan through his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Paul van Meekeren and Haris Rauf to Feature in T20 World Cup 2024

Both Paul van Meekeren and Haris Rauf are part of their respective teams for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 but are placed in different groups. Thus, they won’t face each other in the initial stage of the tournament. A potential encounter between Pakistan and the Netherlands could occur if both teams advance to the Super 8 stage, as the top 2 teams from all 4 groups will make it to the Super 8 Stage.

The Netherlands cricket team have been drawn in Group D of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. They have been placed alongside group favourites South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Meanwhile, Pakistan will be in Group A with India, host USA, Ireland and Canada.

Currently, the Pakistani team is in England for a four-match series as part of their preparation for the T20 World Cup, while the Netherlands recently competed against Ireland and Scotland in a tri-series at home.
