India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, was recently asked about the toughest batter he’s ever bowled against, and his response was as sharp as his bowling. In a video that quickly gained traction on social media, Bumrah chose not to name any specific players, offering instead a glimpse into his strong mental approach to the game.

During a fresher’s day event at the Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai, Bumrah explained his mindset, “I want to give a good answer, but the truth is, I don’t want anyone to dominate my thoughts. I respect everyone, but in my mind, I tell myself that if I perform at my best, there’s no one who can stop me.”

Bumrah elaborated further, saying, “I concentrate on myself rather than the opposition. I believe that I have control over my performance, and if I give my best effort, everything else will fall into place. I don’t want to give any batter the psychological edge of thinking they’re better than me.”

Jasprit Bumrah was the hero for Team India in T20 World Cup 2024

At the moment, Jasprit Bumrah has been taking a break following his impressive showing in the T20 World Cup 2024 which helped Team India led by Rohit Sharma to finally lift the T20 World Cup after a huge gap since Team India’s first T20 World Cup win in the inaugural edition in 2007.

Bumrah meanwhile missed India’s white-ball series against Sri Lanka, and it remains uncertain whether he will be available for the upcoming home series against Bangladesh.

The Indian Cricket Board is keen on ensuring that Bumrah stays injury-free throughout the year, especially with the important main event of the year yet to come, the series in Australia scheduled to start November leading up to the year 2025. Before heading to the land of the Kangaroos, Team India will host Kiwis i.e. New Zealand for a three-match Test series, which could serve as a crucial preparation for Team India and Jasprit Bumrah to regain his peak form ahead of the challenging series against Australia.
