Noor Ahmad, an emerging talent from Afghanistan, has captured significant attention in the IPL 2025 season. Former Indian off-spinner Sarandeep Singh commended Noor Ahmad’s skills and potential to lead Afghanistan’s spin attack in the future. The young bowler’s performance in the IPL has been remarkable, emphasizing his growth and talent.

Noor Ahmad made his international debut for Afghanistan in 2022, and since then, he has played in 13 ODIs and 14 T20Is. His talent has shone in the Indian Premier League, where he has taken 36 wickets from 30 matches, maintaining an economy rate of 7.83. In the ongoing IPL 2025, Noor is currently the Purple Cap holder, having taken 12 wickets in seven matches at an economical rate of 7.12.

One of Noor’s standout performances came against Mumbai Indians in the first match this season for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), where he claimed four wickets for just 18 runs. Such performances underscore why Sarandeep Singh describes Noor Ahmad as a “complete package.”

In contrast, another renowned Afghan spinner, Rashid Khan, has not enjoyed similar success this season. Playing for the Gujarat Titans, Rashid has managed to take only four wickets in six games with a high economy rate of 9.77. Sarandeep Singh suggests that this drop in performance is due to batters becoming more adept at reading Rashid’s bowling style.

Despite Rashid Khan’s struggles, Gujarat Titans currently lead the IPL 2025 standings with eight points and a net run rate of +1.081. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings have faced challenges and found themselves at the bottom of the table, though they recently secured a win against Lucknow Super Giants.

With Noor Ahmad’s impressive form, the future of Afghanistan’s spin attack seems promising. Observers and fans alike are keen to see how Noor Ahmad continues to develop and perform in the future tournaments.
