Pakistan Accept Hybrid Model for Champions Trophy 2025; Wants Hybrid Model for Any ICC Tournament in India

There is constant discussion between the hosts Pakistan and ICC regarding the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Now, if the reports are to be believed, it is said the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has accepted the Hybrid Model but has put forward some conditions.

Pakistan accept Hybrid Model for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

There has been huge tensions going on between the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after the Indian cricket team’s denial to visit Pakistan for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which could cause significant loss of revenue for both the parties.

Since India’s decision, ICC has been pondering over moving the tournament out of Pakistan or hold it in Hybrid Model where Team India’s matches are played outside Pakistan. But, PCB has been adamant for several months, insisting that the entire tournament must be held in Pakistan with or without India.

The ICC recently held a meeting all the participating nations where Team India got support from most of the teams for the Hybrid Model but PCB still denied. Now, if the reports are to believed, PCB has now accepted the Hybrid Model but has put some conditions which the ICC may or may not accept.

PCB Demands to ICC

According to reports, the PCB has told the ICC that they are ready to accept the Hybrid Model but the final must be held in Lahore. But, in case Team India qualifies, then it will be played in Dubai. They also denied to share any revenue with the UAE Cricket Board for any of India’s matches.

However, the biggest of the lot of demands is, the PCB has demanded that any future ICC events that is to be held in India until 2031, Pakistan won’t travel to India and will instead play in a Hybrid Model themselves.

There are total of 4 upcoming ICC events set to be held in India until 2031. These tournaments are 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, 2029 Men’s Champions Trophy and the mega 2031 ICC Cricket World Cup. Now it is to be seen what is the ICC’s final say on this.
