The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced that the Pakistan women’s cricket team will not travel to India for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. Instead, their matches will be held at a neutral venue, adhering to an existing agreement with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Mohsin Raza Naqvi, a representative of the PCB, expressed admiration for the women’s team, emphasizing their unity and outstanding performance throughout the tournament. The team managed to stay unbeaten in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, securing their qualification for the World Cup.

Naqvi further highlighted strategic improvements within the team, contributing to their recent successes. In recognition of their achievements, the national women’s team will receive performance-based rewards for qualifying for the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2025.

Looking ahead, Naqvi revealed plans to introduce a women’s edition of the Pakistan Super League. Additionally, power-hitting camps are slated for development to enhance the skills of the women’s cricket team. He regarded these initiatives as vital steps toward boosting the quality and competitiveness of women’s cricket in Pakistan.

Furthermore, Naqvi touched on the future prospects for the men’s teams, including the senior team, Under-19, and the Pakistan Shaheens, attributing potential successes to strategic planning and improvements.

Meanwhile, the decision regarding a permanent head coach for the Pakistan men’s national cricket team is expected to be announced soon. In contrast, Naqvi opted not to comment on the behavior of star batter Mohammad Rizwan, instead emphasizing the significance of performance leading to positive outcomes.

In summary, the PCB is firmly committed to fostering the development of cricket in Pakistan while navigating diplomatic challenges. The board’s focus remains on advancing performance and maintaining Pakistan’s competitive presence on the international stage, regardless of the logistical hurdles presented by the decision to play at a neutral location.
