PCB to Reschedule PSL Games Amid Pakistan-India Tensions

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to reschedule several Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 matches due to rising tensions between Pakistan and India. This decision follows a series of security concerns instigated by a recent incident involving drones.
An emergency meeting was convened in Islamabad, gathering PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and several foreign players. The urgent discussions were prompted after a drone fell within the Rawalpindi Stadium complex. This incident not only affected the Karachi Kings vs Peshawar Zalmi match scheduled for Thursday but was compounded by adverse weather conditions, particularly heavy rain, necessitating a rescheduling of the game.
The drones, reportedly originating from India, fell across various locations within Pakistan. This occurred as a response from India following a terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. In light of these security issues, a total of eight PSL matches are pending this season. These include four in Rawalpindi, one in Multan, and three in Lahore. However, Lahore, designated to host the final match, has also reported drone-related disturbances.
Such developments have understandably raised concerns among foreign players regarding their safety and continued participation in the series. Consequently, both the Professional Cricketers’ Association and the Bangladesh Cricket Board are actively monitoring the situation to ensure their players’ security during the PSL.
Regarding potential relocation options, Karachi has been considered a viable alternative, while some foreign players have expressed a preference for moving the matches to Dubai. Despite these considerations, official advices regarding security measures have not been altered significantly, though the situation remains under close surveillance and ongoing review.
These adjustments aim to maintain the integrity and continuity of the league while prioritizing the safety and security of all stakeholders involved.
