The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured a convincing victory over the Rajasthan Royals, thanks to pivotal contributions from Phil Salt and Virat Kohli. The match, held in Kolkata, witnessed RCB chasing down a target of 173 with remarkable poise.

Phil Salt, known for his explosive batting, demonstrated impressive skill by scoring 65 runs off just 33 balls. His aggressive start laid a solid foundation for RCB, who scored 65 runs during the Powerplay overs, significantly surpassing the Rajasthan Royals‘ 45 runs. Salt and Jofra Archer, both familiar with each other from their early days in Barbados, faced off for the first time in this match.

Virat Kohli, maintaining his prestigious form, achieved his 100th T20 fifty, equaling David Warner for the most T20 fifties by an Indian, standing at 66. Kohli’s innings, marked by 62 runs off 45 balls, ensured RCB’s win with 15 balls to spare. However, his performance was not without fortune, as he was dropped by Riyan Parag at long-on in the fourth over.

Despite a valiant effort by Dhruv Jurel, who bolstered the Royals’ score by contributing 47 runs in the last four overs, Rajasthan struggled overall in both their batting and bowling departments. They managed to hit only five sixes throughout their innings. Kohli’s drop didn’t deter Jurel, but it wasn’t enough to steer his team to victory.

Post-match, Rajasthan’s captain Sanju Samson acknowledged RCB’s dominance in the Powerplay, which set the tone for their comprehensive win. This triumph elevated RCB to third place on the points table, marking their fourth away win in the season.
