Punjab Kings registered a crucial win against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur to book their slot in the IPL 2025 playoffs. Meanwhile, something that catch the eyes was 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s batting show which even Punjab owner Preity Zinta appreciated.

The Punjab Kings needed a win against the Rajasthan Royals to confirm their place in the IPL 2025 playoffs, with still some matches to go.

Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bat first. Despite 3 early blows in the form of Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh and Mitchell Owen, the performance from middle-order batters Nehal Wadhera, captain Iyer and Shashank Singh guided the Kings to 219 runs on the board.

While the total was considered safe enough, even the Punjab Kings were scared at a moment when the Rajasthan Royals opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and young Vaibhav Suryavanshi put 76 76-run partnership in just 5 overs.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, at just 14 years old, has impressed many with his performance this season so far, including the very special century vs the Gujarat Titans at the very same venue. The youngster was dismissed after scoring 40 runs off just 15 balls that included 4 sixes and 4 fours.

On the other hand, even the Punjab Kings team owner, Preity Zinta, was in awe of the youngster. The Bollywood great even hugged the left-hand batter from Bihar. This incident left the Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer also shocked.

Meanwhile, despite the great start by the Rajasthan Royals’ opening duo, the Royals eventually lost the match by 10 runs. Once again, the inconsistency of the Rajasthan Royals batters cost the side.

They were on 109-2 when Yashasvi Jaiswal departed in the 9th over. Soon after, captain Sanju Samson went back to the pavilion while Riyan Parag was dismissed after scoring just 13 runs.

Wicketkeeper batter Dhruv Jurel took the side close to the target with his wonderful inning of 53 runs off 31 balls. But with the likes of Shimron Hetmyer, Wanindu Hasaranga underperforming, the Rajasthan Royals in the end fell short by 10 runs as they scored 209 runs in 20 overs.
