Punjab Kings (PBKS) are set to host Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 18th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. This exciting encounter takes place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, marking another significant moment in the ongoing IPL season.

Punjab Kings, under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, have shown an impressive performance in the league so far. They are unbeaten, having secured victories in both of their opening matches. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals, captained by Sanju Samson, have struggled with form, winning only one out of their three matches to date.

The match commenced with Punjab Kings winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Rajasthan Royals put up a formidable total of 205 runs in their innings, marking the highest team score at the Mullanpur venue. A crucial contribution came from Dhruv Jurel, whose cameo powered RR to this substantial score.

Rajasthan’s batting performance was highlighted by Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 67 runs off 45 balls before being dismissed by Lockie Ferguson. Sanju Samson, the captain, also played a vital role with a 38-run innings off 26 balls, also falling to Ferguson. Another notable contribution came from Shimron Hetmyer, who added 20 runs off 12 balls, with Arshdeep Singh claiming his wicket.

The Royals’ innings maintained a solid start with an opening partnership of 79 runs after nine overs, Jaiswal and Samson setting a strong foundation. Following the powerplay, they were at 53/0, signalling a steady opening.

As Punjab Kings took to bat, early pressure was applied by the Rajasthan Royals through Jofra Archer. He managed to claim two crucial wickets quickly, leaving Punjab at a precarious 11-2 after the first over. Opening for the Kings were Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, tasked with stabilizing the innings.

Archer’s fiery bowling provided Rajasthan with a hopeful start as PBKS looked to chase the challenging target. With the match unfolding, the question remained whether Punjab Kings could maintain their unbeaten streak or if Rajasthan Royals would secure a vital win to boost their campaign.
