Punjab Kings knock CSK out of IPL 2025 playoffs Race

Chennai Super Kings became the first team to be eliminated from the IPL 2025 after losing to Punjab Kings at Chepauk. CSK suffered their eighth defeat in the Indian Premier League 2025. Despite making a big total of 190 runs in the 49th match of IPL 2025 against Punjab, the Chennai team was not able to defend this total. MS Dhoni and Co. continued their lean patch in the IPL and suffered their fifth consecutive defeat at Chepauk for the first time in IPL history. On the other hand, Punjab Kings reached the second place in the point table after this victory. Now they have come one step closer to the play-offs and are also aiming to finish in the top 2 in the group stage. Also, PBKS have defeated CSK in seven of the last eight games, including three wins at Chepauk in three visits since 2023.

Earlier in the match, PBKS won the toss and invited CSK to bat. CSK lost three wickets early in the innings. However, Sam Curran and Dewald Brevis built a 78-run partnership for the fourth wicket. After the dismissal of Brevis, Curran continued his aggressive batting and helped the team reach a respectable total of 190 runs.
In response to this, PBKS successfully chased down target runs with 2 balls to spare, thanks to Shreyas Iyer’s and Prabhsimran Singh’s fifties after Yuzvendra Chahal’s hat-trick in the first inning.
Now, Chennai Super Kings will travel to Bengaluru to face RCB on 3rd May, where they will play for their pride. While Punjab Kings will play their first game at their second home, Dharamshala. They will host Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, May 04.
