Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings (PBKS) have today announced the signing of New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson as a replacement for injured Lockie Ferguson for the rest of the IPL 2025 season. The former RCB player will play for PBKS on 2 crore salary.

New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson was a crucial member of a very successful Punjab Kings unit in the IPL 2025. However, he was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. He picked 5 wickets in 5 matches and formed a partnership with Arshdeep Singh.

With Kiwi pacer ruled out for the entire season, the Punjab Kings have just gone on and bring in another Kiwi pacer as a replacement. The Kings have signed Kyle Jamieson for the rest of the IPL 2025 season.

Standing at 6’8, Kyle Jamieson was once termed as a cricketing giant. He is currently playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for the Quetta Gladiators. He has featured in 2 matches for the side sitting at the top of the PSL points table and taken 2 wickets.

Kyle Jamieson; hero vs India, flop for RCB

For the unversed, Kyle Jamieson established his IPL career on the back of his brilliant performance against Team India. Jamieson made his debut against India in an ODI series in February 2020. He was named Man of the Match on his debut match itself, scoring 25 runs and also room 2 wickets.

He also made his Test debut later that month. He picked 4 wickets in the first match and a 5-wicket haul in the 2nd Test. After his impressive performance against India, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) paid a whopping 15 crore for Jamieson.

However, he didn’t much impact for RCB and fans consider him as a 15 crore flop. He played 9 matches for RCB in IPL 2021 and took 9 wickets, with economy rate close to 10, considered too high at that time. He was eventually released by the franchise.

Meanwhile, Kyle Jamieson was picked-up by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for 1 crore salary for the IPL 2023 season, but he was ruled out of the tournament and was eventually replaced by Sisanda Magala.
