New Zealand cricket team batter Rachin Ravindra suffered a severe head injury while attempting a catch during the opening match of the Pakistan Tri-Series. The Kiwi was taken off the field with blood flowing down his forehead.

The New Zealand Cricket have finally given a latest update on Rachin Ravindra. The Blackcaps confirmed that Rachin suffered a laceration to his forehead but “he is well.”

The opening match of the Pakistan Tri-Series was played on 8th February, 2025 between hosts Pakistan and New Zealand. The series also involves South Africa cricket team. This series serves as the final preparation for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.

In the opening match, New Zealand set Pakistan a target of 331 runs. Meanwhile, in the 2nd inning, New Zealand batter Rachin Ravindra suffered a nasty head injury. In the 38th over, Rachin tried to attempt a catch off Khushdil Shah’s shot.

However, he was blinded sighted as the ball hit him close to the eyes. He got down on his knees as the blood keep flowing down. The fans in attendance were worried as the medics rushed to the ground. Although stretcher was also brought to the field, it was eventually not needed as Rachin walked off on his foot.

New Zealand Cricket Latest Update on Rachin Ravindra

Finally, the New Zealand cricket has given the latest update on Rachin Ravindra. “Ravindra was forced from the field after being struck in the forehead by the ball attempting a catch in the 38th over,” the NZC said.

“He sustained a laceration to the forehead which has been addressed and treated at the ground, but is otherwise well. He came through his first HIA (Head Injury Assessment) well and will continue to be monitored under HIA processes,” they added.
