Rajasthan Royals Accused of Match Fixing Again after 2 Runs Defeat vs LSG

The inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Rajasthan Royals have found themselves involved in another controversy as the franchise has been accused for match-fixing in their recent IPL 2025 match vs the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
The Rajasthan Royals’ terrible form in the IPL 2025 continues as they lost their most recent match against the Lucknow Super Giants by just 2 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Chasing a target of 181 runs, both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi gave the Royals a flying start with the latter scoring 34 runs on his debut while Jaiswal scored 74 runs off 52 balls. Captain Riyan Parag also contributed with 39 runs but eventually RR couldn’t get over the line and lost the match by 2 runs, despite having 5 wickets remaining.
After the defeat, the team now finds themselves entangled in match-fixing accusations by Jaideep Bihani, the convenor of the Rajasthan Cricket Association’s (RCA) ad hoc committee, who question the team’s lack of intent and performance in this match.
Bihani questioned team’s integrity and pointed how the Rajasthan Royals players were banned from IPL in 2013 for spot fixing while team owner Raj Kundra was caught involved in betting which led to the Rajasthan Royals banned from the IPL in 2016 and 2017 alongwith 5 times champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
“The ad hoc committee has been appointed by the state government in Rajasthan. After analysing our work, we were given an extension for the fifth time. During our tenure, we’ve conducted all competitions successfully right from the district level to the national level, Bihani said in an interview.
“However, as soon as the time for hosting IPL came, the Sports Council took control of it. For IPL, the BCCI had first sent a letter to RCA only. The excuse given by Sports Council and RR was that we don’t have an MOU from Sawai Mansingh Stadium. If MOU is not there, so what? Aren’t you paying Sports Council for every match?” he added.
Rajasthan Royals languish at the bottom of the points table
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals is having a terrible season in the IPL 2025 edition as the team continues to languish at the bottom half of the points table. The Royals have played 8 matches in which they have won only in 2 occasions with 6 defeats in the campaign.
The team has faced several setbacks throughout the campaign. Riyan Parag was leading the side in the first few matches when Sanju Samson was not fully fit to play. Now the Royals captain is once again set to miss couple of matches due to injury.
