Rajasthan Royals Fast bowling coach Shane Bond made a scary statement on Jasprit Bumrah

Former New Zealand star bowler Shane Bond, currently working with Rajasthan Royals as fast bowling coach, made a scary statement about Jasprit Bumrah. Indian superstar got injured during the Test match against Australia, preventing him from playing any matches afterwards and keeping him out of the Champions Trophy as well. His participation in IPL 2025 remains unconfirmed. Now Bond showed concern about Bumrah in an interview with ESPN Cricinfo.
Bond said, “Bumrah’s too valuable for the next World Cup and stuff. So you’d be looking at the five tests in England; I wouldn’t want to be playing him any more than two in a row. Coming out of the back end of the IPL into a test match is going to be a huge risk. And so how they manage that is going to be key.”
Moreover, Bond also added, “They may say it’s three or four matches in total. If we can get him through the English summer and he’s fit, we can probably then go with some confidence that we can carry him across the rest of the formats. That’s hard because he’s your best bowler, but if he gets another injury in the same spot, it could be a career-ender because you can’t have surgery there again.”
However, Shand Bond thinks that India cannot give Bumrah that kind of workload he carried during the 2024-2025 Australia Tour. He also said that it’s Bumrah’s responsibility to work in tandem with the decision-makers in Indian cricket to chart out a safe path that would help him extend his career. As we know, both star players have worked together in Mumbai Indians for several years. Former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond also retired at the age of 34 due to these injuries. Moreover, IPL 2025 is going to kick off on 22 March. Rajasthan Royals will start their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians will play their first match against Chennai Super Kings on 25th March.
