Rajat Patidar has been appointed as the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. The tournament has been scheduled to kick off from 21st March, Friday.

Most of the fans expected Virat Kohli to take charge in the absence of the South African southpaw Faf du Plessis. The 40-year-old cricketer took the responsibility after Virat Kohli stepped down from the leadership. However, he was released by the franchise after leading three seasons since IPL 2022.

Rajat Patidar named RCB Captain for IPL 2025:

RCB officially made the announcement in Bengaluru on Thursday. Team director Mo Bobat and head coach Andy Flower and Rajat Patidar were seen during the event.

“There is a calmness to Rajat (Patidar) and that will stand Rajat in good stead, especially in the IPL. He is inherently a quiet guy, but he cares about the people around him in the dressing room. As a leader those qualities were important,” said head coach Andy Flower in the event.

Rajat Patidar will be the eighth captain of RCB as he has been with the side for the last three seasons. Since joining RCB in IPL 2021, Rajat Patidar has been a promising performer for the side and always remained as a key player during crunch moments of the game.

He represented RCB across 27 matches where he amassed 799 runs that he played at an average of above 34. In addition to that, he has a hundred and 7 fifties under his belt with the strike-rate hovering around 160.

He was already asked to lead the side during the previous season. But Rajat Patidar wanted to lead the domestic side before leading a big side in a big league. Hence, with Rajat Patidar as the new captain, let’s have a look at the probable playing 11 of Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of IPL 2025.

RCB Probable XI for IPL 2025:

Virat Kohli, Phil Salt, Rajat Patidar (captain & wicket-keeper), Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma, Tim David, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Lungi Ngidi, Suyash Sharma, Rasikh Salam.
