The IPL 2025 Mega Auction is the most crazy auction in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history with some of the biggest and best T20 players from India and around the world are part of it. One of them is current India international wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant.

Rishabh Pant will be playing for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2025 for a whopping 27 crore. LSG were in it from the beginning and fend off RCB and SRH to become the most expensive player in the IPL auction.

Rishabh Pant part ways with Delhi Capitals

Indian cricket team’s wicketkeeper batter and an integral member of the Men in Blue, decided to leave his team Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. While there is no confirmation as to why, but Pant himself confirmed that he didn’t leave the Delhi side because of money or monetary gains.

It all started with Pant sharing a post on his official X handle, asking the fans if he goes into the auction, then whether he will be sold or not and what would his value be. While many thought of this as just a humorous post from Pant, as he is known for being too funny, but, it shocked everyone when Pant eventually decided to leave Delhi Capitals.

Rumours then already started to link the left-hand wicketkeeper batter to various other franchises, including the likes of Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings.

Rishabh Pant IPL Career and Stats

Rishabh Pant was picked by the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the IPL 2016 Auction for 1.9 crore after fending off Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bengaluru) and Mumbai Indians. It was on the same day when Pant scored a century in the 2016 U19 World Cup against Namibia that helped India reach the semi-finals.

Pant straightaway made the Delhi’s playing XI. He played 10 matches in his first season for the Daredevils and scored 198 runs. But his true potential really kicked-in from 2017 season when he scored 366 runs from 14 matches.

He then take it to the next level in 2018 IPL after being retained by franchise. Pant scored a staggering 684 runs of 14 innings with a strike rate of 173.60 and was Delhi’s best player that season. He scored his maiden IPL century that season, scoring 128 runs of 63 balls vs Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The numbers never touched the same heights again but Pant remained with the Delhi Capitals until the IPL 2024 season. He was made the captain of the franchise for the IPL 2021 season after regular captain Shreyas Iyer was forced out of the tournament due to an injury. Since then, Pant has remained a part of the franchise as the captain. He only missed the IPL 2023 season due to his fatal car accident.

Rishabh Pant IPL Salary

Talking about Rishabh Pant, he has only managed to grow himself over the years with his performance, which has also seen growth in his IPL salary price. Pant was bought by the Delhi Capitals in the 2016 IPL auction after a bidding war between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians with Delhi coming in late to swoop the then India U19 star batter for 1.9 crore INR.

He was then retained by the franchise for 8 crore INR after his tremendous performance in previous season. The youngster then saw his value rise to 15 crore from IPL 2021 onwards. That then became 16 crore INR between IPL 2022 and 2024 edition.
