Rohit Sharma Credit Recently Sacked Abhishek Nayar for His Match Winning Batting vs CSK

Former Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma has credited recently sacked coach Abhishek Nayar for his brilliant performance in Mumbai’s victory over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma was hugely in trouble in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season where the batter struggled to deliver consistent runs and was shouted at being dropped from the side.
However, the bigger the occasion, the bigger the moment as Rohit Sharma finally decided to show-up in the crucial Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings match on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Chasing a target of 177 runs, former Mumbai Indians and India captain Rohit Sharma led the chase from the start to the end. Rohit played a magnificent inning of 76 runs off 45 balls that included 4 fours and 6 sixes and a strike rate of 168.89.
Meanwhile, within 24 hours after his scintillating performance, the India captain has thanked recently sacked Indian team assistant coach Abhishek Nayar for his performance. Abhishek Nayar was recently sacked from the Indian team assistant coach position blaming him for all the batting failure of the Indian team during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-2025.
As per report by Cricbuzz, despite rumours about Abhishek’s sacking, Rohit Sharma has been working with Abhishek after his poor start to the season at the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) facilities just before MI’s match vs SRH, after which he scored a confident 26 runs vs Hyderabad followed-up by the match winning 76 vs CSK. After which he took to his Instagram handle and posted a thank you message for Abhishek Nayar.
However, since his appointment as the Indian team assistant and batting coach, several players have credited the former Mumbai batter. It includes the likes of KL Rahul, Shubman Gill etc. Not to mention all the KKR boys crediting Abhishek after the franchise won the IPL 2024 edition.
Abhishek Nayar has rejoined KKR for IPL 2025
Meanwhile, after being removed from his position in the Indian cricket team, Abhishek Nayar has rejoined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as the assistant coach midway through the IPL 2025 season. KKR batters have been struggling a lot and Abhishek’s arrival would certainly be a boost for the franchise half of the season yet to play.
