The Indian cricket team’s captain Rohit Sharma dropped a massive news about Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane during his post match press-conference after the 3rd Test between India and Australia ended in a draw at The Gabba.

Team India fought hard to make a comeback in the Test match after conceding 445 runs in the 1st inning with the match having had several rain interruptions that washed away hours cricket, including the final session on day 5, resulting in the match to end in a draw.

Pujara and Rahane could make comeback to Indian team: Rohit Sharma

After the match, Indian cricket team’s veteran off-spin bowler Ravichandran Ashwin today officially announced his retirement from international cricket and during the post match press-conference, Rohit Sharma was asked whether the likes of Ashwin, Pujara and Rahane will be involved with the team in some capacity.

In reply to the same, Rohit Sharma cleared the fact that only Ravichandran Ashwin of the three mentioned have announced his retirement from international cricket while Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara continues to be active in cricket.

Rohit also highlighted the fact that the duo could make a comeback to the team if they can impress the selectors with their performance.

“Arre bhai, khali Ashwin announce Kiya hain retirement. Tum log marwa doge mujhe, wo dono active hain aur kabhi bhi aa sakte hain perform karke (Only Ashwin has announced his retirement, Pujara and Rahane continues to be active and could make a comeback with their performance)” said the India captain.

Although Rohit’s remark had humour on it, but a lot of questions have been raised on the Indian batters’ performance recently with the team suffering a whitewash against New Zealand at home while the experienced lot, the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and even Rishabh Pant have failed to deliver with the bat recently.

Fans have been constantly discussing the fact that India captain Rohit Sharma should retire after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy if the team fails to reach the World Test Championship (WTC) Final. Virat Kohli has also faced several remarks from cricket experts and fans about his current form.

The Gabba Test match ends in draw

The 3rd Test match between host Australia and India ended in a draw after both the teams fought spiritedly against each other and the weather. But it was eventually the weather which won the battle and the match ended in a draw.

With this, the scoreline for the BGT 2024-2025 remains 1-1 after India won the Perth Test while the Aussies won the Adelaide match. We will head to Melbourne for the next match starting on Boxing Day before the final match of the series to be played in new year starting 3rd January in Sydney.
