Rohit Sharma Injury Update: Will Rohit be able to play the next match against RCB?

Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians (MI) opener and former captain missed the match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in this year’s IPL 2025 season. Head coach Mahela Jayawardene justified Rohit’s removal, explaining that he was struck in the iliotibial (IT) band area during practice the day before the game.
The Lucknow Super Giants defeated the Mumbai Indians as a result of 12 runs in the 16th match of the ongoing IPL 2025 on Friday, April 4, at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
The Mumbai Indians featured the young all-rounder Raj Bawa, who had previously played only two IPL matches for the Punjab Kings and achieved attention during the 2022 U-19 World Cup.

Will Rohit Sharma be able to play the next match?
While there is no clarification on his availability for the upcoming match against RCB, Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawadene gave an update on why the top batter missed the contest.
“Rohit came across a hit on his knee in the IT (iliotibial) band and attempted to bat yesterday. He couldn’t put any weight on it, so he came back and tried again with a fitness test. It was uncomfortable for him to bat, so put weight on it. So that’s why we took precautions and gave him a few extra days to try and get through it,” Jayawardene stated at the post-match media conference.
MI struggled without Rohit Sharma
MI bowled first and defined Lucknow Super Giants to 203-8, thanks to a stunning five-wicket haul from captain Hardik Pandya. Mitchell Marsh set the standard for LSG, scoring 60 runs off just 31 balls. Aiden Markram got 53, while Ayush Badoni and David Miller’s late efforts enabled the Super Giants to reach 200 runs.
In response, MI rapidly lost both openers. Naman Dhir (46) and Suryakumar Yadav (67) led a spirited recovery, but leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi turned the tide in LSG’s favor with 1/21 from four overs. Tilak Varma (25 off 23) retired after battling. MI fell 12 runs short in the run chase.
If he misses the RCB match, is quite likely to be healthy and ready for the next game against the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, which is just one week away and planned for Sunday (April 13).
