Shakib Al Hasan Suspended by ECB Due to Bowling Action

Shakib Al Hasan, the veteran Bangladeshi cricketer, has faced a suspension from bowling in all tournaments organized by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). This decision was made following concerns about his bowling action, marking the first instance of such a suspension in his long-standing career.
The key issue identified in Shakib’s bowling is related to the elbow extension, which needs to be within the 15-degree mark as per the cricketing guidelines. To lift the suspension, Shakib must have his action reassessed independently and meet this requirement. The suspension is effective from December 10, restricting his participation in several prominent ECB competitions.
Despite the suspension from ECB tournaments, Shakib retains the eligibility to bowl in international matches and other Twenty20 competitions. However, his participation in ECB’s County Championship, One-Day Cup, T20 Blast, and The Hundred is on hold until any rectifications are made to his bowling technique.
Before the suspension, Shakib showcased his skills in a match for Surrey against Somerset, where he claimed nine wickets and scored 12 and 0 in his batting innings. This performance highlights his significant role as an all-rounder in the cricket world.
In other cricket updates, Babar Azam achieved a milestone after his quick innings against South Africa on December 13. Additionally, Saim Ayub celebrated his maiden T20I century against South Africa in the second T20I, showcasing remarkable talent.
The suspension is a significant development for Shakib Al Hasan, who has been a pivotal player for Bangladesh and various leagues around the world. As he works to address the concerns with his bowling action, the cricket community will closely watch his progress and potential return to ECB tournaments.
