Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) started their IPL 2025 campaign on a high note with a convincing victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR). In the opening match, SRH scored an impressive 286/6, setting a daunting target for RR. This victory marks a strong statement from SRH, reflecting their intent for the season.

Ishan Kishan was the standout performer for SRH, scoring an unbeaten 106 off 55 balls. His innings provided a stable foundation for SRH, allowing them to amass a formidable score. Complementing Kishan’s performance, Travis Head made a valuable contribution with a brisk 67 off 31 balls. Together, their performances powered SRH to a total that proved too challenging for RR.

On the bowling side, Jofra Archer had a forgettable day. He ended up with the worst bowling figures in IPL history, conceding 76 runs in his 4-over spell. This ineffective bowling effort was a significant setback for RR, hindering their ability to control SRH’s aggressive batting lineup.

Despite the daunting target, RR’s batsmen made a valiant attempt. Dhruv Jurel showcased his capabilities with a swift 70 off 35 balls, trying to steer RR closer to the target. However, RR eventually fell short by 44 runs, managing to score 242/6 in their innings. Besides Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer contributed 42 runs to RR’s total but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.

The match also highlighted SRH’s strategy and execution as bowlers like Zampa and Harshal Patel made critical strikes at opportune moments, preventing RR from gaining any momentum.
