T20 Mumbai League 2025 Icons Players and Teams List

Some of the Indian cricket’s best cricketers from Mumbai have been today picked by the eight teams ahead of the 3rd season of the Mumbai T20 League during the Icon Players draft held today, May 2, at the Wankhede Stadium Lounge from 5 P.M Indian Standard Time (IST).

The T20 Mumbai League is making a much awaited comeback this year after a 6 years hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2nd and the last edition of the tournament was held in 2019, prior of the pandemic. The 2nd edition was won by the North Mumbai Panthers beating the SoBo SuperSonics in the final.

The league will continue to feature a total of 8 teams. There are 6 returning sides from the first 2 seasons, the North Mumbai Panthers, ARCS Andheri, Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, Namo Bandra Blasters Eagle Thane Strikers and the Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs.

There will be 2 new teams joining this season. They are the SoBo Mumbai Falcons owned by the Roadway Solutions India Infra Ltd. and the Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals owned by the Royal Edge Sports & Entertainment. 

The league announced 8 top Mumbai players as icon players available to be picked during the Icon Players Draft on May 2.

T20 Mumbai League Icon Players and Team Name

The number one pick in the T20 Mumbai League Icon Players draft was Shreyas Iyer, the India international batter who leads the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025. Shreyas Iyer has been roped in by the SoBo Mumbai Falcons. Iyer has been in great form in the IPL 2025, playing several match winning knocks.

Meanwhile, Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav was the next pick in the draft as he is headed towards the Triumph Knights Mumbai North East. Surya was named Team India’s T20I captain after Rohit Sharma retired but he is not the captain of the Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane will be playing for the Namo Bandra Blasters while CSK’s hard-hitting batter Shivam Dube to turn out for the ARCS Andheri side.

Other players picked in the draft includes the likes of Tushar Deshpande to Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals, Prithvi Shaw to North Mumbai Panthers, Shardul Thakur to Thane Eagle Strikers and Sarfaraz Khan to feature for the Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs.

T20 Mumbai League Commences from 26 May

Meanwhile, the T20 Mumbai League will commence right after IPL 2025 season. The league is set to commence on 26 May, just the day after the IPL final, with the final match of the tournament scheduled on June. There will be a total of 20 matches, all of which will be played at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
