In the match number 3 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 played between Namibia and Oman, the Oman cricket team almost disappointed Namibia in a scoring match that saw Namibia failed to chase down 110 runs target and had to go through the Super Over to pick-up the 2 points.

Batting first, Namibia managed to get 2 wickets in 2 balls to start the match. Oman somehow still managed to post 109 runs on the board despite losing wickets. Namibia on the other hand found it really difficult to navigate the Omani bowlers slower deliveries. With 5 runs required off the last over to win, Namibia could only add 4 runs off the last over lost 2 wicket. In end, David Wiese and Gerhard Erasmus scored 21 runs for Namibia in the Super Over. Khalid Kail

Almost every Omani batter had no idea to Namibia’s bowling as most of the Namibia batters departed contributing around 10 to 20 runs. But, Khalid Kail added 34 runs for the Omani, although it took him 39 balls, but it is what allowed Oman to put up a fight against the mighty Namibians. His inning included 1 Four and 1 Six.

Ruben Trumpelmann

Ruben Trumpelmann gave Namibia a dream start in the match as he got 2 wickets in first 2 balls of the match for Namibia. He ended his 4 overs spell giving away 21 runs in and took 4 wickets in total with an economy rate of 5.2.

David Wiese

Former South Africa all-rounder David Wiese, who now plays for Namibia, was excellent with both bat and ball. Wiese took 3 wickets with the ball. He couldn’t give the finishing touches to Namibia’s chase of 110 runs, but started off with a 6 and 4 in the super over, which set the momentum for his team. He also got a wicket in the super over.

Jan Frylinck

Wickets were kept on tumbling from one end, but one end was kept hold of tightly by 30-years-old left-hand batter . Frylinck played the same role for Namibia that Khalid Kail played for Oman. Frylinck scored 45 runs in 48 balls but most importantly, he held onto one end while wickets were falling from one end or else it could have been disaster for Namibia.

Mehran Khan

Oman captain Aqib Ilyas used 7 overs in total and everyone gave their best efforts towards one cause, have to stop Namibia for less than 109 runs. But it was special performance from the experienced 37-years-old Mehran Khan. Khan bowled 3 overs in the match and gave away only 7 runs and took 3 wickets, that included the magnificent last over where he took 2 wickets and could have won the match for side if the wicketkeeper hadn’t fumble the ball and allowed Namibia batters to run for a single that eventually helped them tie the match.
