Team India Crowned 3-Times Champions Trophy Winner; Beat New Zealand in CT 2025 Final

Rohit Sharma and his men in blue, the Indian cricket team, has etched its name in the history books as Team India have won their third ICC Champions Trophy beating New Zealand in the 2025 edition final match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The Indian cricket team beat New Zealand by 4 wickets to lift their third Champions Trophy, this is after a long wait of more than a decade since India last won in 2013 under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
Rohit Sharma stars for India in title win
Chasing a target of 252 runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, both India openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave Team India a perfect start that one wants in a title match. The duo added 105 runs for the opening partnership before Gill was dismissed after scoring 31 runs off 50 balls.
However, that didn’t stop the onslaught brought upon the New Zealand bowlers by India captain Rohit Sharma. Sharma went on to score 76 runs off 81 balls that included 7 fours and 3 sixes.
Team India received some back-to-back set-backs as both Virat Kohli (1 run off 2 balls) Rohit Sharma were dismissed in the span of 6 overs. However, Shreyas Iyer ensured that Team India don’t go under the shell as he played a pivotal knock of 48 runs off 62 balls, adding middle-order solidity alongside Axar Patel, who also scored 29 runs.
Later both Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul took command of leading the side’s charge. And while India were close to the target, Hardik Pandya gave away his wicket while trying to play a big shot to get India over the line. However, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja ensured India were over the line comfortably with Jadeja hitting a pull shot for four for the winning runs.
New Zealand scored 251 runs
Earlier, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and opted to bat first. Although Rachin Ravindra gave a great start to the Kiwis, New Zealand were soon reduced to 75-3 from 57-0.
Kane Williamson and Will Young failed to live-up to the hype and expectations. Daryl Mitchell then played a inning defining knock as he scored 63 runs off 101 balls with Glenn Phillips and Michael Bracewell adding some firepower in the end with them scoring 34 and 53 runs respectively as eventually the New Zealand managed to reach 251 runs from a difficult position once.
For India, Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav picked 2 wickets each while Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja bagged 1 wicket each.
