Team India Take Early Advantage After Thrashing Australia by 295 Runs in 1st Border-Gavaskar Trophy Match

The first match of the India vs Australia Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-2025 season has come to an end with the visiting team India coming out on top after a gruelling 4 days of play.
India win first Test by 295 runs
Chasing a target of 534 runs, Team India have bowled out the Australian team for 238 runs in 58.4 overs. Australia struggled early on after put to bat in the last 30 minutes of day 3 as they lost 3 wickets for just 12 runs in search of the target.
Although Australia improved their performance on day 4, regular wickets helped Team India remain on top. The highest partnership for Australia was between Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head, 84 runs partnership.
Jasprit Bumrah and Siraj picked 3 wickets each and got support from Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana and Nitish Reddy. Earlier, Team India scored 487 runs in their 2nd inning thanks to centuries from Jaiswal and Kohli.
It was Team India captain Jasprit Bumrah who won the toss and opted to bat first. However, things were really difficult for the Indian team. Australian seamers were over the top of Team India as they bowled out India for just 150 runs.
Debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy was the top scorer for Team India having scored 41 runs while other struggled to even start their inning and take it to the next gear.

But, when it comes to taking it to the next gear, the Indian bowlers did take it to the next level. Despite being bowled out for just 150 runs, captain Jasprit Bumrah led the side from the front.
The stand-in captain for the match, took 5 wickets as Australia were bowled out for just 104 runs, which allowed Team India to take 46 runs lead. Other than Bumrah’s 5 wicket-haul, debutant Harshit Rana took 3 wickets while Mohammed Siraj also chipped in with 2 wickets.

With this win, Team India has now taken 1-0 lead in the 5 match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-2025 series. We will have a couple of days off before we return for the Day-Night Test match from 6 December at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide.
