Telugu Film Star Vijay Deverakonda and Tilak Varma Face Off in Pickleball Challenge with MI Jersey on the Line

On Tuesday, May 6, before the Mumbai Indians’ big match against the Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, MI’s Tilak Varma and Telugu film star Vijay Deverakonda competed in a pickleball match.

Tilak Varma and Vijay shared an exciting face-off in which Vijay Deverakonda promised that if he lost the match, he would wear a Mumbai Indians jersey, while Varma promised to do something for Vijay if he lost the match.

Vijay Deverakonda and his partner eventually won the game by defeating Mumbai Indians’ star batter. Vijay beat Tilak with the scoreline reading 2-1. Despite it being a friendly match, it was an intense face-off between the duo.

“We have a bet. If we lose, we have to do something for Vijay Anna,” said Tilak in an official video shared by the franchise. Vijay responded, “If they (Tilak’s team) win, I will wear the Mumbai Indians jersey.” You can watch the video below.

Meanwhile, Tilak Varma has been spotted playing pickleball on multiple occasions. The Hyderabad batter appeared to enjoy the game, as he was seen playing it alongside former India captain Rohit Sharma and his daughter Samaira.

Mumbai Indians face Gujarat Titans in crucial match

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians will host the Gujarat Titans in one of the most important matches of the IPL 2025 season on Tuesday, May 6, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Both teams are contenders for the top four spots in the points table; however, the winner of this match should have the momentum to challenge for a top two finish.

The Mumbai Indians are currently in third place in the points table, with 14 points from seven wins in eleven games. Gujarat Titans are in fourth place with 14 points from seven wins in ten games under Shubman Gill’s leadership.
