TNPL Auction 2025: 5 Most Expensive Players

The Tamil Nadu premier League is scheduled to take place later this year in the month of July to September. Organised by TNCA (Tamil Nadu Cricket Association) TNPL is a twenty twenty tournament which is played in the league stage and playoffs format.
A total of eight teams would be participating in this season and all franchises have now gathered their squads. Franchises secured their star players through retentions last year, preventing them from entering the auction pool.The TNPL 2025 Auction, held on February 15, 2025, saw several big names being picked up, making headlines in the cricketing world.
While most of the teams have retained their favorites before the auction. But there were many big names that went for release into the auction pool like Vijay Shankar and Washington Sundar.
The TNPL Auction witnessed a fierce battle for talent acquisition. Salem Spartans has made the highest bid for the ninth season auction bidding it for the M Mohammed. They secured the prized player at the winning wid of INR 18.40 Lakhs. Below mentioned are the top 5 most expensive players for the TNPL 2025.

The highest bid for the upcoming season has been clinched by Salem Spartans where they have spent 18.40 lakhs to take M Mohammed in their Squad.
1. Mohammed M
Born on December 3, 1994, Mohammed hails from Dindigul Tamil Nadu. He has been a consistent performer in the domestic cricket and plays as a right handed batsmen and a right arm medium pacer. Over the years he has represented many teams like Dindigul Dragons, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, Lyca Kovai Kings, and the Tamil Nadu state team in the TNPL History. Mohammed M was able to fetch a higher bid than the Indian international Vijay Shankar, which was a surprise to many in the cricketing circles.
2. Vijay Shankar
Born on 26 January 1992, Shankar hails from Tirunelveli Tamil Nadu. Vijay plays in the middle order attacking opponents with his batting as well as medium pace bowling. Playing cricket for domestic teams, Vijay has represented India at International grounds as well. Beside playing for CSK, DD, and SRH in IPL. He has played his domestic matches with stints at Tamil Nadu, Lyca Kovai Kings, Chepauk Super Gillies, Salem Spartans, and IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans.
3. Mukliesh U
Born on 18 September 1998, Mukliesh U is a right handed batsman and right arm off-break bowler. He comes in as a top order batter who is known for his ability to anchor innings and play aggressive strokes whenever the team needs. Over the years, Mukilesh has been a part of notable teams like Lyca Kovai Kings, Nellai Royal Kings, and VB Kanchi Veerans, showcasing his skills in domestic cricket. With a solid technique and a hunger for runs, he continues to make strides in his career, aiming to leave a lasting impact in the game.

4. Suresh Kumar J
Jayaraman Suresh Kumar, born on November 28, 1990, in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, is a seasoned cricketer known for his sharp wicket keeping skills and reliable batting. He has shown his impressive batting style in the domestic cricket season. Suresh holds experience as a right handed batsmen who has represented Lyca Kovai Kings in TNPL for the past season. Being 34 years old, he brings experience and composure needed to field, making him a valuable asset behind the stumps.
5. Hari Nishant
A promising left handed batsmen for Domestic season cricket, Hari Nishant hails from Ooty (now Udagamandalam), Tamil Nadu. He started with domestic cricket at the age of 28 years and then build a strong foundation with his technique and ability to build innings. Over the years he has been part of many franchises including Siechem Madurai Panthers, Chennai Super Kings, Dindigul Dragons, Tamil Nadu, and VB Thiruvallur Veerans. This year it would be a new team with Salem Spartans buying him with 12 lakhs for 2025 TNPL Season.
With the wind of the TNPL Auction 2025, each team was required to have at least 16 players with a maximum limit of 20. Each franchise was allocated a budget of a total of 80 Lakhs INR. While some teams retained key players ahead of the auction, others chose to undergo a major squad overhaul to rebuild their roster. But overall all teams have begged the best deals for themselves and are now ready to go on in full swing with TNPL cricketing action.
