UP Warriorz Strategize for WPL 2025 Auction

UP Warriorz are gearing up for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction, aiming to make strategic moves to enhance their team performance. This year’s auction is scheduled for December 15 in Bengaluru.
UP Warriorz have not been consistent in the league so far, finishing third in the WPL inaugural season and missing the playoffs in the second season. Alyssa Healy is set to lead the team in the upcoming season, and she will be pivotal in helping the team achieve better results.
The team has retained its core players while releasing four others. Notably, Danni Wyatt has been traded to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. UP Warriorz’s squad includes key players such as Alyssa Healy, Deepti Sharma, Sophie Ecclestone, and Tahlia McGrath. New additions to the team include Chamari Athapaththu and Grace Harris, who are expected to bring fresh talent and energy.
With INR 3.9 crore remaining for the auction, UP Warriorz need to fill three slots, one of which is for an overseas player. Strengthening the batting lineup and identifying a top-order batter to pair with Alyssa Healy are primary objectives for the team. Another surprising move was the release of fast bowler Lauren Bell, given the limited strength in their pace attack.
Sophie Ecclestone and Deepti Sharma remain key players for the squad, with Ecclestone taking an impressive 27 wickets in 17 matches and Sharma showcasing an all-around performance with 385 runs and 19 wickets in the Women’s Hundred.
As the WPL 2025 auction approaches, UP Warriorz will be focusing on optimizing their squad to enhance their chances of success in the upcoming season. Their strategic placements and acquisitions during the auction will be crucial in achieving a better standing in the league.
